A bad day is when

3 Oct

you wake up in the morning at 12:01am and find your baby has fever. It gets worse when you wake up at 4:30 to find your baby with a 102 fever, blabbering incoherently and unable to sleep. Nothing can make one feel as bad as a) A fever that simply won’t disappear. b) A happy child who becomes dull and rests her head between playing .

p.s : Please recommend any cold remedies. I don’t know how to give her the relief she needs.

Hey Subha– for congestion, stand with her in the shower ( not getting wet) and let her breath in the steam.. helps a lot.
If she will take it,give her warm water with a bit of ginger/lemon.. you can add honey when the child is over a year old.Keep her hydrated..

There is one thing that I did try..roast some ajwain (omam) seeds in a kadai. such that it gets a little warm. put in a kerchief and othanam-vechufy on the chest. She can also take a couple of sniffs. I usually do this and ajwain (omam) water also – boil water and add omam. strain and drink. I am not sure if this can be given to a 6 month old..

Only thing is that we’ll have to be careful that the omam-compress is not too hot for the baby!

        oh and 1 more .
warm coconut oil .add some powdered camphor and a pepper to it.
once it gets warm enough to be applied on skin, apply it on chest, back and feet.cover feet with socks.PR used to do the same with mustard oil.
